Expected DA Calculation Updated on 29.03.2019 on announcements of CPI for the month of Feb'19 as 7007.55
On the basis of CPI announced for the months of Jan'19 & Feb'19, we are providing calculations of expected DA on the following three assumptions:-
- On assumptions that CPI would remain at least same as of Feb'19 for next month i.e for Mar'19. In this situation the expected (tentatively) increase in DA Slabs would come to 31 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 642 i.e. 64.20%.
- On assumptions that there would be an increase of one point in CPI data in next month i.e. for Mar'19. In this situation the expected (tentatively) increase in DA Slabs would come to 33 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 644 i.e. 64.40%.
- Keeping in view the Election in country and ongoing the rise in prices of of all general items of use of common men in the past months, we may assume that there will be an increase of minimum of three points in in CPI data for the month of Mar'19. In this situation the expected (tentatively) increase in DA Slabs would come to 37 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 648 i.e. 64.80%.

Expecting CPI data to increase by 1 point for month of September 2018 i.e, 302, what will be the expected DA increase – here is the calculation.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) Numbers for July 2018 – 301 (published)
Consumer Price Index (CPI) Numbers for Aug 2018 – 301 (published)
Consumer Price Index (CPI) Numbers for September 2018 – 302 (expected)
Multiply it by conversion factor (4.63 x 4.93),
- CPI for July 2018 = (301×4.63×4.93) = 6870.59
- CPI for Aug 2018 = (301×4.63×4.93) = 6870.59
- CPI for Sep 2018 = (302×4.63×4.93) = 6893.42
- Average CPI = (6870.59+6870.59+6893.42)/3 = 6878.20
- Deducting 4440 slabs which are merged in basic pay as per 10th bipartite settlement = (6878.20-4440) = 2438.20
- Divide 2438.20 by 4 to calculate DA slabs for quarter = (2438.20/4) = 609.55 or 609 (rounding off) on which 0.10 percent DA is payable.
So DA slabs percentage for Nov 2018, Dec 2018 and Jan 2019 will be 60.9 percent.
Expected Increase in DA Slabs = 609-541 = 68 slabs
So expected DA increase for month of Nov, Dec 2018 and Jan 2019 will be 6.8 percent.
Note : Final DA Slabs increase for Nov 2018 for bank employees will be published here on release of CPI data for month of September 2018.
