IBPS PO 2017 Preliminary Exam

The mains exam is the important phase of IBPS PO 2017 Exam. Maximum weightage is given to score obtained by candidate in IBPS PO Mains Exam in the final selection to the post of Probationary Officer. IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2017
The Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection (also known as IBPS) is a government recruitment agency which is fully dedicated to place job seekers on reputable positions in banking sectors.

Every year, IBPS conducts several exams for recruitment amongst which Probationary Officer (PO) is one of the main exams. The candidates who are seeking jobs in government banking sector must apply for IBPS PO Exam.

The question papers for IBPS exams are designed in such a way that it filters out brilliant students having excellent knowledge of Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English and Computers. Along with the Excellency in these subjects, aspirants must also be well updated with General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

The candidates who are wishing to appear in the exam should check the IBPS PO 2017 Exam Pattern to manage their preparation accordingly.

The examination will be administered in two phases – Preliminary and Main.

The candidates who qualify the Pre exam will be shortlisted for Main Exam and those who also qualify the main exam will have to clear Personal Interview round to be finalized for the post of PO in IBPS Associated Banks.

# The final score card will consider only the marks of Main Exam and Interview.

# The above tests except for the Tests of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
# For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.
# The exam will be conducted online and it will carry objective type questions.

Cut-Off Score 


 Mean – 3/4th of Standard Deviation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD categories
Mean – 1/4th of Standard Deviation for General Category.
There will be a second level cutoff point on the total as per requirement.
Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview.

IBPS PO 2017 Eligibility

Knowing whether you are eligible to appear in the exam or not is the first thing candidates should check before applying for the exam.

The aspiring candidates should fulfill all the requisite eligibility conditions for IBPS PO in respect to the three aspects of nationality, educational qualification, and age limit.

Nationality / Citizenship



A candidate must be either –

 A Citizen of India or
 A subject of Nepal or
 A subject of Bhutan or
 A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
 A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualifications




The candidates who are wishing to appear in the exam should have a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

Note –

1. All the educational qualifications mentioned should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognized by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the final result should have been declared on or before 05.09.2017.

Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before 05.09.2017 has to be submitted at the time of interview. 

2. Candidate should indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the IBPS PO Online Application. Where CGPA / OGPA is awarded, the same should be converted into a percentage and indicated in the online application.

If called for the interview, the candidate will have to produce a certificate issued by the appropriate authority inter alia stating that the norms of the University regarding the conversion of grade into percentage and the percentage of marks scored by the candidate in terms of norms.

3. Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks (in all the subjects irrespective of honors / optional/additional optional subject, if any) multiplied by 100. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honors marks only.

The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%

Age Limit



The candidates applying for the exam must age between 20 to 30 years.
